There is an interesting article in this month's edition of Women's Health magazine exploring the changing roles of men and women in society. I got my wife a subscription., mostly because I want her to take care of herself and I'd like to keep her around for the duration. Perhaps she'll even outlive me, who knows.
She bought Men's Health for me a few years back. The editor is a bit misguided. The mag is overall a good thing.
My comment on the article is that the Alpha male is not dead. Just because I'm submissive to a woman doesn't mean that I'll let just anybody have their way. We're still here. Ready, willing and able.

I think the shifts are unavoidably obvious to anyone who honestly takes a look around. It makes the role of a submissive husband a little more accepted in public. Anyway, is there an on-line link to the article, or if not, what does it say?
ReplyDeletethx.
No link that I can see, you may want to try womenshealthmag.com and see if it's posted. The crux of the bisquit is a synopsis of the changing roles of men and women in society. One quote: 'A woman's chance of finding a man who is as educated and financially secure as she are small, and dwindling.' Yes, that's true.
ReplyDeleteThere have been several articles in the news over the last week that the hardest hit by the recession are predominantly stereotypical male jobs. I read an article this morning that reported a full 74% of the jobs lost were held by men.
Judy and I have been married for almost twenty years. The first eleven years or so she made quite a bit more than I did. Can't say it ever bothered me, or her. I will note that some opportunities were afforded her and others I know due precisely to their gender and ethnicity. Scholarships and solicitations by universities to study there. We met in grad school. She got a full ride, I had to scrape by with a GA position. Not complaining, merely pointing out the facts.
Totally agree. My wife may be the boss of our relationship (mostly to help with our sex life) but that doesn't mean I'm a wimpy guy to others and will let them "walk all over me."
ReplyDeleteThen again, there is this at home mom......LOL
